BMW Motorrad has indeed unleashed the daredevil by launching the all-new BMW S 1000 R in India. Available as a completely built-up unit (CBU), the most awaited roadster can be booked at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships.
Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The second generation of the all-new BMW S 1000 R is designed as a power-packed roadster with supreme riding dynamics, athletic character combined with maximum safety and everyday practicality. We are delighted to offer yet another masterpiece for riding enthusiasts in India. It is a unique blend between fast sporty runs and track day fun.”
The fresh BMW S 1000 R is notably more masculine and sharply defined. Inspired by the BMW S 1000 RR, it enhances its character as a dynamic roadster. An eye-catching visual feature is the ‘tail up – nose down’ look along with other new body elements. It visually seems like a low weight, sporty while also giving a high level of riding performance. The new led headlamps give it even more muscular look. The fuel tank side panels, the tank center cover, the side panels are made in the shape of a styled ‘R’. The new design is also said to be accompanied by ergonomic refinements such as a reversible handlebar clamp for increased reach and options for seat height adjustments to give one a better riding position.
The BMW S 1000 R is said to be powered by a newly developed water cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine weather displacement of 999cc. The engine generates a peak power output of 165hp at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114Nm at 9,250 rpm. The BMW S 1000 R can sprint from 0-100km in 3.2s and is able to achieve an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
The engine has been improved to be wider, fuller and more harmonious providing better rideability. The 4th, 5th and 6th gears have been made to have longer gear ratios, which reduces the noise and the fuel consumption as well as the engine speed level, specially at cruising speeds. Additionally, the BMW S 1000 R along with a smoother, self-reinforcing anti-hopping clutch, can also be equipped with engine drag torque control as an option. This prevents the rear wheel from slipping due to abrupt throttling or downshifting.
The all-new BMW S 1000 R offers the rider four modes for ideal adaptation to varied conditions as standard - ‘Rain’, ‘Road’, ‘Dynamic’, and ‘Dynamic Pro’. These enable the rider to modify control functions such as Engine throttle, brake, traction control, wheelie-control, ABS and ABS Pro to suit riding style and other conditions. The fully customizable ‘Dynamic Pro’ mode offers a wide range of setting options as part of the ‘Riding Modes Pro’ option. The Multifunctional instrument panel - the 6.5-inch TFT display offers a level of quality of display and information. The Pure Ride screen shows the essentials or one of the three Core Ride screens that display other important information. BMW Motorrad multi-controller provides the rider with quick access to vehicle and connectivity functions with the BMW Motorrad Connectivity App, practical arrow navigation and route import and multiple waypoint guidance on the display.
