As per this move, owners of the C-Class manufactured from June to November 2021 and S-Class built during the same period can now use the Mercedes MBUX Zero Layer, installing it using the over-the-air update (OTA). What is the Mercedes MBUX Zero Layer system?

The MBUX Zero Layer comprises a clear user interface with a large-size map view and individual selection tiles that you can operate without having to scroll down. It is a unique AI system that gets to know the driver and understands the route or typical settings.

Furthermore, the Mercedes MBUX Zero Layer personalizes infotainment, driving comfort, and vehicle functions. For example, the driver talks to family daily in the S or C-Class Mercedes model of the Zero Layer system. As a result, the AI device picks up this habit and suggests calling on the selected tile on the top menu.

How to use the MBUX Zero Layer system?

Apart from radio/media, telephony, and navigation, there are about 20 functions that the AI-centric Mercedes MBUX Zero Layer offers. Some of them will include ‘ENERGIZING COMFORT’ programmes, allowing you to experience a relaxing massage, especially during the long journey. You can receive status queries from smart home devices connected from home. More importantly, it was in 2021 that the MBUX Zero Layer system made its debut in the all-electric EQS and EQE Mercedes models. Although, now it has also become integral in the C Class (series 206) and S Class (series 223 including Maybach) models manufactured in the 2020-21 year.

How does the Mercedes MBUX Zero Layer work?

To begin with, proud owners will initially receive a notification from the MBUX Zero Layer system via the Mercedes app. Those customers who do not have the application will be informed by post about the availability of the over-the-air update (OTA). Mercedes-Benz provides you with mobile radio technology and communication module in the C and S class vehicles. The customer can finally use the Mercedes MBUX Zero Layer system by activating it once the agreement terms are signed. Finally, all the Mercedes C and S class needs to do to use the MBUX Zero Layer system is to follow the navigation menu of the setup assistant to get complete access to this unique system rather easily and rapidly.

With regards to the introduction of this MBUX Zero Layer system Magnus Östberg, Chief Software Officer, Mercedes Benz AG, believed that the intention behind launching such an innovation by the German luxury carmaker was to give a chance to their clientele to upgrade their vehicles. That too with the latest software over a term whenever and wherever they want.
