Explore the 2025 Audi A6—now with updated MHEV engines, Android-based infotainment, and a cleaner design. Global launch from April 2025.

Audi’s latest iteration of the A6 sedan positions itself as a steady evolution rather than a dramatic reinvention, as it continues to compete in the fiercely contested executive sedan segment. With a focus on integrating updated powertrains, next-gen tech interfaces, and subtle design revisions, the 2025 A6 is being readied for global markets, where expectations around luxury, efficiency, and technology are higher than ever. Production of the new A6 sedan will take place in Neckarsulm, Germany, with global sales beginning mid-April 2025. Prices for the base 2.0 TFSI 150 kW model will start at €55,500, with deliveries set to commence in summer 2025.

Visually, the 2025 A6 gets the now-expected design refresh with a wider Single frame grille, more sculpted bodywork, and sharper LED elements. While it doesn’t stray far from the outgoing generation’s silhouette, it manages to look slightly crisper and more purposeful. Optional design packages such as the Black Optic Sport add blacked-out trim, 20-inch wheels, and sportier accents. For buyers who Favor a bold design statement, this might still feel too restrained, but for loyalists, the evolutionary styling will feel familiar and reassuring.

Inside, the car transitions more definitively into the next-gen digital cockpit space. A new curved display forms the visual core of the cabin, integrating an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch central touchscreen into one seamless panel. For the first time, Audi also offers a 10.9-inch passenger screen, allowing co-passengers to interact with infotainment or navigation functions. The infotainment system is powered by Android Automotive OS, allowing access to native apps like Spotify, YouTube, and Google Maps without a connected smartphone. ChatGPT integration enhances the voice assistant experience, allowing natural, conversational interactions with the car—though the long-term usefulness of this remains to be seen in day-to-day driving scenarios.

Physical buttons are becoming rare, and the A6 follows that trend, with climate and seat controls all housed in digital menus. While it aids in keeping the cabin clean and tech-forward in appearance, it could polarize users who prefer tactile controls for commonly used features. Still, cabin materials, fit, and finish remain typically Audi—minimalist and high quality.

The new A6 prioritizes passenger comfort with several premium touches. Four-zone climate control, seat ventilation, and a cabin air ionizer are available depending on trim. A Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system with up to 20 speakers, including drivers in the headrests, aims to deliver an immersive listening experience. It’s a well-thought-out space, though many of these luxuries come bundled into higher trims or packages, potentially pushing the price upwards for those seeking a fully loaded configuration.

Under the hood, Audi is continuing its move toward electrified drivetrains, but with a measured step. The A6 now comes with three mild-hybrid engine options using a 48V system, branded MHEV Plus. This includes a 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine producing 204 PS and paired with front-wheel drive, a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine with the same power but more torque (400 Nm) and available with quattro all-wheel drive, and the most powerful option—a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI generating 367 PS and 550 Nm, offered exclusively with quattro. The MHEV system provides electric coasting, improved start-stop performance, and regenerative braking, though it doesn’t allow electric-only driving like a plug-in hybrid. On the road, the A6 offers a composed and balanced drive rather than a sporty or aggressive one. Adaptive air suspension, where equipped, adds flexibility, while Audi Drive Select lets drivers tweak performance characteristics. But compared to sportier rivals in the segment, the A6 continues to lean more toward refinement and composure than driver engagement.

In terms of practicality, the 13.7 cubic feet of boot space is adequate for daily and business travel needs, though some competitors offer larger cargo areas or more flexible configurations. Cabin space for passengers, however, is generous, especially in the rear, making it a solid choice for those prioritizing rear-seat comfort. For frequent business travellers or executive transport purposes, the comfort and quietness of the ride stand out. Overall, the 2025 Audi A6 is not a radical departure from its predecessor, but rather a careful refinement. It blends technology, mild-hybrid efficiency, and understated luxury in a package that is targeted toward brand loyalists and those who value consistency over disruption. For buyers comparing it with rivals like the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, it will likely come down to personal preferences around styling, tech interface, and ride feel.

The A6 makes a compelling case for itself in many departments, even if it doesn’t always push the envelope.
